Blake Emme- Month 14

Dear Blake E. B.,

You are a women on the move this month!

While you've been able to climb stairs for a few months now, it now appears to be the only thing you want to do! While you can go up, you have yet to figure out the down...

You also took your first steps!!! While we can't say you are walking, you are definitely heading in that direction!

You celebrated your second 4th of July with a parade and fireworks. You loved waving at the people passing by and were enthralled by the booms and bangs and bright lights shooting in the sky.

You also got to enjoy an ice cream cone, that you held all by yourself.

Mommy's friend Caroline came in town to play and while it was a bit too hot for her pregnant belly to do much we still had a great time!

We also did some traveling at the end of the month with a flight to Tampa, where we spent a week with  Gigi and Big H. This was your 11th and 12th flight (I think!) and while you have given up on sleeping during flights you are still a good little traveler!

After our time in Tampa you took your first long car trip, 8 hours to Charlotte, and while you did not love it, you did better than expected!

You are still a fun little eater, loving sweets and carbs the best but starting to enjoy tomatoes, carrots and roasted red peppers....We'll take what we can get.

And you have figured out a fork and can sometimes get the stuff on a spoon into your mouth.

You have also started talking more and more and are saying plenty of words including bottle, love you, dog, hello, hi, strawberry, cup and shoe. You also make plenty of animal sounds including woof and click, click, click (in your mind the sound a horse makes).

You love waving hi and bye to people and will signal "come here" to the dogs when they are out of your reach. Which is often because while you love them more and more, they could stand for a bit more space.

You give us the best looks, questioning with your eyes, wondering where things are with your hands and frown and going "oh!" when you are surprised or excited.

You had your second ear ache, but were a champ through it all!

We loved playing with you this month. Watching you take your first steps, kicking away in the pool, and testing out so many new words. You are such a joy in our lives and each day is a new and exciting adventure. We love you so much sweet girl!

Love,
Mom and Dad

Happy 4th of July!

Blake Emme- Month 12

Dear Blake,

How is it possible that another month has past so quickly and that a whole year has gone by since you entered this world?

This last month was such a fun one! You have become such a fun personality. You "oooh" and "ahhh" over every new thing and we can see the interest and question and excitement in your eyes of all the new you are discovering in the world.

Food has become more important in your life and you are a fruit fiend.

You FINALLY started saying Mama and you can't even imagine what a smile that puts on my face!

You've also added "more", "thank you" and "done" to your vocabulary but mainly say more by slapping your hand on your tray and done by pushing it away.

You have also added the fun habit of throwing your food when your done. If you don't want to eat it, then you don't want it in front of you.

Oh and you growl. When asked what a tiger, bear, lion, gator, etc says you let out the deepest growl, that is partly unbelievable coming from such a tiny body. And it isn't just animal noises. You talk in growls as well!

This has been the best month of sleep yet! You go down with a simple bed time routine and naps are a breeze. My favorite part is that you kiss a baby picture of you that is framed by your bed and kiss your mouse that hangs on your fan.

Grammy, Captain Gregg, Uncle Carter and Gigi came to see you this month to celebrate your birthday and we had a great time going on wagon rides and playing with your toys.

We spent quite a few evenings at the pool and continued enjoying playgroups and music class.

We did a little hiking and you did a little tabletop dancing.

It is just so uncomprehendable that you are a year old. How on earth did this happen? You continue to take my breath away with your big blue eyes and gap tooth smiled. Your giggle is infectious and your kisses sweet as cherry pie. I love the little person you have become and am beyond excited to watch you grow into a toddler. Oh the adventures that are sure to come!

Love you!!

Blake Emme- Month 13

Well hey there you big 1 year old!

This month was fun filled from day one. On June 1, your 1st birthday we had a birthday party to celebrate you! Grammy, Captain Gregg, Uncle Carter, and Gigi all came in town to party with you! We also had about 15 friends there to play.

We celebrated with balloons, bubbles and plenty of cake! You were not afraid to dig in and loved the birthday attention.

We spent the next few days in Aspen with Gigi and Big H, enjoying the beautiful scenery, eating lots and lots of tasty treats, swimming and hiking the gorgeous Maroon Belles.

We got back to Denver in time to celebrate mom's 28th birthday with some pizza and cake!

You learned to fetch this month and love playing with us and the dogs.

You have such a great giggle and are using it more and more as we get you, tickle you and chase you around.

You have started nodding your head yes and shaking your head no, to let us know what you want or don't want.

You've started talking more and when asked if you want to do something will say "sure" and "I do".

Your new favorite game is to empty every basket, bowl and drawer in the house. The positive thing is that you put things back too!

Dad had a little time off this month to hang out with us and we got in lots of hikes, farmers markets, and late morning brunches.

We all loved the extra time together and had such a great month with our 1 year old! You have turned into such a strong personality and we can't wait to see it grow!

Love you bunches,
Mom and Dad

Happy Birthday!

We have a walker!

In late AuIn mid-July Blake started taking a few steps, mainly when bribed by blueberries, but was not quite ready to officially "walk".

By late August that had changed and she was off!

It didn't take long to go from just starting to walk to full on running around! Here she is running around in early September.

While she might have been a later walker she wasted no time in leaving crawling behind and using her new skill to get into everything!

Here we go again!

On Thursday August 22 we had the joy of finding out that Blake would be getting a baby! It is so surreal to think that in 9 short months Chris and I will be parents to not only one but two kiddos and we are thrilled!! It is a bit more of a shock the second time around, just knowing what all goes into growing a human and then raising one through the first year of their life, but the tug on your heart and the smile on your face doesn't change.

12 and 15 Month Well Visits

We just had Blake's 15 month well visit and I realized I never posted about her 12 month (or about anything in the last 4 months for that matter!)

Well she was a trooper at both appointments but especially the 15 month one...saying hi to everyone who came in the waiting room, wearing Dr. Emily's stethoscope, and not crying for any of her 3 shots....what can I say I've got a little trooper on my hands! And really a little trooper as you can see from her stats below:

12 Month Stats
Weight: 16lbs 14oz, <3 percentile
Height: 29 3/4 inches, 75 percentile
(tall and lean!)

15 Month Stats
Weight: 18lbs 6oz, 3 percentile
Height: 31 1/4 inches, 75 percentile
(still tall and lean!)
