Arts and Crafts

We recently changed our bedroom colors to dark gray and yellow and have been lacking on art work so I figured I would undertake a little project. Several months ago I came across this painted dresser on

So I took the design and translated it onto a canvas. I started with a blank canvas (I think it was 40''x28'') from Michael's.

I started by painting a base coat of mustard yellow.

I then taped off even diamonds across the canvas.

Next I painted the entire canvas gray.

Peeled off the tape and had these perfect gray diamonds.

Then I took some gray paint and feathered the edges of the diamonds.

Then I used a dark purple to paint smaller diamonds inside the gray ones.

And finally I used a magenta to add a third diamond inside the gray and purple.

And I was finished! Tada! New art for the bedroom.

Cheered on our college football teams, toured Asheville and the Biltmore with my parents, studied, sold payroll, carved pumpkins, handed out Halloween candy, and ate a delicious Thanksgiving dinner at Chris's parents house.

December 2010
Merry Christmas! This year we went to Tampa to visit my family for the holidays. It was wonderful to spend time with them. Unfortunately we missed a white Christmas in Charlotte :( But we did take a side trip to Nashville, TN to check something off Chris's bucket list. We enjoyed not 1 but 2 of Garth Brooks'  out of retirement shows. AMAZING! We also celebrated the entry into 2011 with great friends in Charlotte and a Clemson bowl game.

January 2011
I went to school, Chris worked, it snowed, the pups played!

February 2011
Not much this month except Valentines day which was a delicious red themed dinner of some of our favorite things! Baked brie with raspberry, scallops seared in a pomegranate butter, couscous with cranberries and cupcakes for dessert!
My Valentine's

All in all a perfect way to spend our anniversary.
