Half Way There!

Belly and Baby in Belly at 20 weeks!

For Blake

Dear Baby Girl,

This week we reached the half way point. In just under twenty weeks you will be here with us. The past twenty have flown by, so I have no doubt the next twenty will as well.

I have really started to feel you move in the past few days and your little punches, kicks and flips make all of this so much more real. With every flutter I can imagine your tiny feet learning to walk and your sweet hands reaching out for mine. With each grasp and step you open up a world of possibility. There is no limit to what you can do. I can hear your laugh and picture your smile as you play with Jackson and Peli. I can hear your voice as you tell your dad a story. I can feel your touch as you climb onto my lap to read a book. And that's only in the first few years of your life.

I get choked up thinking about holding you in my arms. I have so so much love to give you and so much to share with you. I want to show you how to cook and how to savor the sweeter things in life. I want you to learn to swim almost before you can walk. I want you to breath a sigh of relief when you see the ocean and feel the sun on your skin. I want to show you how to bait a hook and reel in a fish and to enjoy the time it takes to catch the big one. I want to teach you to read and how to get lost in a book. I want to see you giggle over puppy kisses and embrace the time spent with friends. I want to let you know its ok not to listen to what we have to say all the time, but to have the grace to admit your faults. I want to help you understand and appreciate a good game of college football and to learn the Gator chomp is an appropriate response in almost any situation. I want to show you how amazing your family is, how your dad has the biggest heart of any man I know (with the possible exception of my dad), and how my mom is my best friend and that I want that for us one day. I want to introduce you to all the adventures this world has to offer and that a boat ride can cure most ailments. I want you to see that there is nothing that should stop you from achieving your dreams. I want you to experience the joy of singing at the top of your lungs no matter how good or bad it sounds. I want you to see that it is ok to be wrong and to be humble when you are right. I want you to always care, and to know that helping others is the greatest thing you can do. I want you to know that I will teach you, guide you, protect you and help you whenever you need. And most importantly I want you to know that I will always love you.

You are what I have always wanted and while I know the rest of this pregnancy will go quickly, I also know I will be anxiously awaiting the day you are in our lives and in my arms.

Blake Emme Brewer I love you, I love you, I love you.

Lots of love and kisses,
Mom

Beautiful Couple, Beautiful Location!

In early October we were fortunate enough to join Julie Schlegel and George Darrow in Aspen, CO for their perfectly planned, intimate wedding weekend. Julie is a sorority sister and good friend from college and she met her husband to be at a work function at about the same time I met Chris. Our stories were oddly similar and our long distance relationships, quickly moved to not so long distance and developed swiftly into the real deal. As Chris and I's wedding was rapidly approaching Julie was busy bringing their handsome little one into the world. Knox was an amazing addition to their life and was an equally great addition to the wedding festivities!

On Friday Chris and I drove west towards Aspen and played a relaxing game of golf at Lakota Canyon. We were pretty much the only two on the course and at a perfect 70 degrees it was a great start to our weekend. We then drove south into Aspen and checked into our room at the Aspen Meadows Resort where the wedding would be held the next day. That night all the guest joined the bride and groom to be at a local pizza place for delicious thin crust wood fired pizzas, bruschetta, other appetizers and local brews. We had a great time hanging out with Julie and a few other people I knew from college.

On Saturday morning Chris and I drove into Aspen for breakfast and a walk around the Aspen Farmer's Market. We then headed back to the hotel to check out bikes and take a nice little ride around town. As the sun started setting we joined the other wedding guest on the meadow for a sweet and simple ceremony that perfectly captured Julie and George's personality. After the ceremony we walked over to the hotel restaurant for an outdoor cocktail hour, a buffet full of local ingredients and a full on dance party.

Sunday morning we went on a quick hike before breakfast, joined the newlyweds for a fair well brunch and headed back to Denver. Congrats again Julie, George and Knox!! It was an amazing weekend!

Colorado Views

Since moving out West we have been fortunate enough to see some incredible sites. Driving west towards the mountains and seeing that magnificent view will just never get old. Here are a few of our favorite snapshots of the scenery:
